Rear main seal
So I replaced my rear main seal and oil pan gasket. Still leaking oil from the plate what bolts to the transmission. Feel like I put the seal in wrong or didn’t have enough rtv where the seal joins since it’s a two piece seal. Anyone have a picture how the seal should look? Also for anyone doing the rear main seal always prime you’re oil pump unlike me the first time 🤣

The seal does go in one way you know, are you sure it isn’t backwards
I have a write up with pictures when I did mine

I have a feeling I put the top one in backwards. The one where you take a punch to get it out. I tried to put the side with thicker seal towards the front of engine but it would not go in even after loosing two other crank bearings.
Idk how’s yours leaked but it’s raining here so can’t get underneath to look but looks like it’s on the dust cover for the transmission. I’m wondering either didn’t clean it enough, didn’t tighten the oil pan bolts enough or the rear main seal. Cause I put some rtv where the seal connects. If it comes down to it when I get time I’ll just tear it back apart get a new seal and try it again

Yeah prolly should have put more I put less than size of penny of each side prolly should have put more. What’s funny is I work at a Chevy dealership so used to chevys now compared to dodges and they are different by a mile at least to me

Take the plate off and look at the flywheel/crank flange, If it's wet with oil the seal is leaking. If you are not sure spray it with brake clean and clean off the oil then take if for a ride. If it's leaking you will see it.
