Default Engine ticking noise

I recently noticed a ticking noise that seems to be coming from the drivers side of the engine. It seems to go away in a minute or less, I'm wondering if it might be a lifter. If so, how do I diagnose it for sure. I have 2001 3.9l with about 75,000 on the engine. Thanks for your input.

Probably a lifter bleeding down when it sits. Or, possibly and exhaust leak?

I already checked the header bolts and exhaust flange bolts. I do have a small exhaust leak but it's on the back side of the cat, it needs to be welded. I didn't think that would cause the ticking, it goes away after about 15 or 20 seconds.

Sounds like an exhaust or lifter. As the exhaust heats up it will close and small gaps and the lifter will pump up.

It could also be the purge solenoid. Unplug it n see if the noise goes away, or just stethoscope it.
