Can someone help me understand how many bellhousing bolts there are for the 46re and 5.9l magnum. I am currently swapping engines from a 2000 Ram 1500. The donor motor was from a 2001 2500 with the 46re as well. The thing I don't get is i can only find 6 bellhousing bolts to remove. The donor motor has 7. They all seem like they are in the same spot, but for some reason my donor motor has one directly in the middle of the mating area. I can't find that on the current setup. Please tell me that these will bolt up. Both trucks came with a 5.9l and 46re combo. Only difference is mine is a 2000 1500 and the other is a 2001 2500.

Is the hole threaded? The block may be designed to fit several different transmissions. Automatic and manual. If you have holes that match the transmission, I'd just use those.

after I little research I think you are right and it is designed to also fit the manual trans that had a hole in that spot. So that calms my nerves a bit. If I got this far just to find the engine won't bolt in id lose it. Over $2k in a rebuild down the drain

If the engine was originally in a manual vehicle, it will fit an automatic just fine. An automatic engine in a manual equipped is different as there usually isn't a provision for a pilot bearing.
