Default Driver seat issue

Anyone know how to fix the driver seat support? Sold my 01 to my nephew for two years and just bought it back. He is quite the large man and broke the supports for the seat and now I site on the frame.

Can you possibly share a photo of the broken support?

I'll try and get a picture tomorrow. I think they are wire supports attached to springs that that holds the seat cushion up.

Yes, a photo would be helpful. In your area, there should be several auto upholstery shops that could likely repair it at a reasonable price.

This is common with the cushions. Happened on the '99 I show in post #15 below. You can get a new cushion. In my area upholstery shops want as much or than the new Dorman cushions. I can't believe I'm recommending anything Dorman.

Will not work for regular cabs, though. I've investigated and the regular cab seat structure is WAY different

I guess I could add some info: the seat frame is essentially nothing but an open square under the cushion.

It's very easy to see underneath if you slide the seat all the way back and put your head in the driver footwell. If you don't see a broken support on the left, right, front or back but your posterior is falling through the cushion, it's almost surely the fault of the cushion itself.

It's also VERY easy to remove the cushion with just 4 bolts (one per corner) if you really want to verify your diagnosis -- and find that pocket change and old fry from 2001

Again, extra cabs only. Regular cabs integrate the cushion like a The Borg assimilate species.
