Finally getting my trans looked at soon, wish me luck...been through the ringer...
If you are willing to do some work you can get some good deals on "salvage" vehicles. Not all of them are twisted piles of metal. If the repairs are more than what the insurance is willing to put out they consider it salvage. It can find vehicles with burn up wire harnesses to flood damage, Obviously a harness is easier than a whole interior. You have to document the repairs and then have the state check it out then they will give you a new title for it. Evey state is different so you have to look into it first.
I have bought several cars with salvage titles, and put them back on the road. My Dodge Conquest was a salvage title, simply because cosmetic damage was expensive to fix. I got the car cheap, and drove it for 8 years..... Put a LOT of miles on that one....
well, good news you guys. The servicing, and them fixing the front band strut and reinstalling it fixed it. They said something to the tune of basically the strut was completely broken, I guess from the people stealing it awhile back and trying to rob the bank by trying to pull the atm out of the ground. I have 2nd gear again. Seems to have a ton more get up and go now. Very reasonable price, $175 total for the filter, fluid, and band adjustment and that new band strut installed, they said they had to drop the valve body to even get to it. Drives as good or better than it did years ago when I first got the truck. I was definitely prepared and willing to get another trans though after looking at very expensive high mileage used vehicles around here. Well, onward to many more years with the truck, with the price of things now I don't really care to pay a sky high price for a vehicle.

Glad to hear the trucks is up and runnin'.
