I have never done this headache before. I have a used Ring and Pinion I am trying to set up, my backlash is at 8 and I have read around that the drive side will not be center between the tow and the heel. However with that being said I am still unsure if I have the pinion depth deep enough or did I go too far. I tried to put drag on while turning by myself, but I get the same result with the paint even after I mixed oil into the compound. This truck will be hauling a camper so I want it to handle a load well. Should I go with it or not a good idea. Thanks, appreciate any help you can suggest. drive side coast side more drive side more coast side
You need to remove some shim from the pinion (inside), not outside. Down load the service manual for your year of truck. Its pretty easy once you done it a few times.
