Air conditioning question
I just bought a 2001 Dodge 1500 Sport, to do some occasional hauling. The truck came with A/C, but most of the components have been removed.
The compressor and accumulator tank have been removed, and all of the lines have either been removed or cut.
I am curious as to why someone would do this. If you don't want A/C, why not just stop using it? Is there some mechanical reason to remove it? I guess if the compressor went bad, that may be a reason, but why not just remove the compressor and leave everything else there?
The main reason I ask is because I want to put the A/C back in (Local junkyard has all of the parts), but I want to make sure I am not missing something.

Probably the system failed, and a previous owner just went berserk.
Not like the system uses any additional power if it isn't running.... If the compressor is gone, you will need a new belt as well, as the current one will be too short.

They put in a plate that has a pulley on it, so same belt will work. They cut the line that goes into the firewall, so I'm not sure what that is going to entail.
