Default Sensor Help

Alright, this one was a doozy for me, i was pulling out my wires for the fuel injectors on a 1996 5.9l magnum and the two sensors in the front of my engine snapped off. I dont know what sensors they were. They are both underneath the mounting brackets between the ac and the front of the intake. If anyone knows which sensors they were that would be great.

Most likely the coolant temperature sensors - one for the PCM and the other for the gauge in the cluster.

When one fell out it came out with these 2 extremely fragile wires and a bunch of white substance on the end of it, Does that confirm what kind of sensor it is?. They were both built into the engine and and then have a clip attachment.

Based on your pictures and description, yes both are coolant temp sensors assuming your truck is a 97 or older? One is a single wire and one is a two wire, PCM and Gauge like mentioned, you do need both of them

You MUST replace the two wire sensor that feeds temperature data to the PCM, otherwise the engine will not run correctly. The one wire sensor is for your gauge in the dash cluster. It needs to be replaced if you want the temperature gauge to work.

I read on another forum with locations on the engine sensors, and it said the 2 prong one was the high ac switch. Could that be the case?

In your second pic, that sensor down by the thermostat housing is the coolant temp sensor. Should be the two-wire feller.

Not seeing the other sensor you mention though. Can you post a pic of that one?
