Default Rear End/Squealing?

Having issues with my truck, I’ve been chasing it forever and have taken apart my rear brakes about 10 times and still haven’t fixed the issue.

I’m getting a squealing (sounds like it’s coming from the rear) it doesnt do it until it is driven awhile for everything to get hot. The squealing starts off only when barely tapping the brakes, then it starts doing it when slightly turning to the right and goes away when on a straight stretch. If I’m driving next to barricades I can somewhat hear the sound bouncing off the barricades but it’s barely noticeable.

Today I jacked it up and put it in gear, and it doesn’t sound good. There is fluid in the rear end and when I last changed it about 3 months ago(was doing the noise before the fluid change) didn’t notice any metal flakes. Sounds like the shoes are rubbing in the drums but they aren’t, they have been adjust all the way in just to make sure. Also the truck when in neutral is still spinning the back tires. I noticed when i am recognize it lightly the rear end starts spinning normal then all of a sudden it seems like it free spins then kicks back in? I’m stumped with this.

EDIT: Forgot to mention that the noise is not happening in any of these videos. Just noticed that it did this while trying to get the noise to happen

The video of the outside is while the truck is in neutral

Possibly bad axle bearings - have they ever been changed and how many miles are there on the truck?

As for the wheels turning in neutral, the driveshaft shouldn't turn when the truck is in neutral, unless its from the momentum from getting the wheels going while in drive, then shifting to neutral. Does the shifter need to be adjusted for that issue if this isn't the case?

180k and they have never been changed

the linkage seems fine, I made sure the wheels were completely stopped then put it into neutral

Hmm, curious. I watched the vids but wasn't able to determine a lot. Even though it seems to maybe relate to brakes I'd take a good look at u-joints.

If you really think it's the drums perform the same test first with everything in place to make sure it's still there then yank the wheels and drums and repeat. Pulling the wheels and drums should only take 5 minutes unless you have to back out the star wheels....

Also, you could CAREFULLY hold one wheel in NEUTRAL while your helper lets off the brake. IOW spin each side independently to maybe track down an axle bearing but I'm not convinced that's the issue here

I forgot to mention that the noise is not happening in these videos. 😣 I just noticed it was making these sounds in the video while performing this test.

I left the truck running for awhile in drive and was trying to get it to replicate the noise and it won’t. I’m starting to aim for the noise coming from the front, possible wheel bearing issue?

the u joints don’t seem to have any play when grabbing the drive l shaft. On the other hand I can turn the drive shaft maybe 1/2 inch before it stops

I'm not surprised that you don't hear the wheel bearings during your test since the weight of the truck isn't really on them. When you mentioned that you really hear the noise when turning, that pushed me towards the wheel bearing thought. Is the truck 2WD or 4WD? Really need to determine if the noise is coming from the front or back...

It’s a 2WD

Sure sounds like there is a noise in the second one but sounds like the cat rattling.

I’m getting a squealing (sounds like it’s coming from the rear)
As mentioned check the u joints. You may not see anything or feel any movement but take the caps off and inspect. If red dust falls out they are bad.
