01 dodge ram headache after headache
Bought a 01 dodge ram 5.9 bought earlier this year sport package. was running fine then started hiccuping when i would press gas like it wasnt getting any power or engangeing transmission till high rpm since then ive rebuilt valve body in transmission replaced all the solonoids replaced broken 3/4 spring got rid of that check engine light . checked fuel pump it was bad replaced it . tps sensor and idle controll valve . did the plenumb test its not leaking found out pvc valve was bad replaced it and sparkplugs truck was running better but still will randomaly start puttering real low rpm pressing gas does nothing unless your pressing on and off fast then it will finnally engage and move all this is makeing me think tourqe converter im at a loss bout ready just to run this thing through the auction 173k miles
Curious how did you “test” the plenum? If you remove air cleaner, look in throttle body into intake and see any oil, it’s blown, it WILL blow, factory defect is the bolts are a touch to long and can’t properly torque it…
next thing I would check is battery….mine had a time where I could only start it at wide open throttle, if I let off gas it wouldn’t start, and it would hiccup if it was running and not on gas. Voltage said 14 so I assumed battery was fine, it wasn’t until I actually tested the battery I found it was bad…..don’t know how WOT would make it start being fuel injected but a new battery cured issue…..any of your terminals loose or corroded? Even the terminal to the fuse block, check that too

even if plenum is blown you’ll still have suction, you need to physically look into the intake, if there’s oil it’s bad, again every magnum engine had this issue and it’s because bolts are to long and when you have a 1/16 in steel plate bolted to a aluminum intake the metals will warp at different temperatures, that teamed with to long bolts it will blow….your issue to me sounds like plenum and when plenum is blown for to long it can clog the cat, which in turn can cause to much pressure causing head to crack especially on the #8 cylinder, foul o2 sensors, and cause a slew of bad things. Not something to gamble on, look into the intake, see oil, replace plenum.
fuel pressure is fine, they typically are at 49psi
