Default Dipstick for my 1995 Ram?

How do I find the correct one for my Ram 1500? I do a search and see so many. Do I need to measure it to be sure?

I guess it would depend on your engine. Although the 360 only varied from the 318 by (mostly) displacement and the V-6 was the same as the 318 with 2 less cylinders. I would assume they would all use the same dipstick. Although measuring it wouldn't hurt. Is yours broken or rusty?

You can find the Dodge part number for the dipstick in the Dodge Ram parts manual for your year truck with the appropriate engine - you can download the parts manual via this link - https://dodgeforum.com/forum/2nd-gen...s-manuals.html

Once you have the part number, you can find it via Google.

Yeah I have the manual, which section would that be under? There's nothing in the Index under 'dipstick'.

the little top shield part got broken when a mechanic lay across it.

In the parts manual, find the engine you have in that truck and find it in the engine section for your particular engine.

Dang that parts manual is huge, and I can't find anything dipstick at all.

is there an easier way to search for the part?? I have the 5.9 engine.

Using the parts manual isn't rocket science and is the easiest way to find the part number, short of calling the Dodge dealer on the phone directly to find it. On page number 348 of the 94-96 Dodge Ram parts manual, it shows the dipstick tube and dipstick for the 5.9 magnum gas engine. Since you have a 1995 Ram 1500 with a 5.9 magnum engine, its likely the light duty dipstick tube that you want. Part number 53020616 is the dipstick and 53009663 is the actual tube the dipstick slides into. I'm sure that you can google those part numbers to locate the appropriate vendor selling the part you need.
