Default Transmission installed same numbers

Hey guys new to this forum, so I just purchased a transmission for my 96 dodge ram 1500 2 wheel drive....yeah the 5.2. So I kinda have a 2 part question. 1st : is there a transmission temperature sensor on the vehicle. 2nd : why won't it change after transmission get hot.? Now I've changed the filter the governor solenoid and pressure sensor the 2 parts in the transmission. And also change fluid yet I can fire the truck up and drive to the store let it sit and I have a issue getting it to catch the gear but they change out fine going to the store. I has to cool off before moving. I need help qnd do not wanna drop the trans again.

Is the check valve still installed in the cooler line? If so, you certainly want to remove it, as they tend to clog up and cause the transmission to overheat. Here's a link to how to remove the transmission cooler line check valve - https://dodgeforum.com/forum/2nd-gen...46rh-46re.html

You can do a pressure test and see what's going on.

Trans temp is part of the governor pressure sensor.

Not sure what your issue is though. Does it not shift when the trans warms up? Or you just don't get O/D???? If you just bought it, have a chat with the folks you bought it from.

Default On the overheating

Ok so I changed the governor pressure solenoid but are you referring to the two lines on the trans that may be clogged up?
hey you qnd yes I can drive it to the store but I let it sit for maybe 10 mins it doesn't want to move at all then I fire it back up once it's a little cool and it pulls off this the reason I took the original trans out I've had the truck 2 yrs then just recently last yr it done this and I was told I needed a trans but I replace those components. And only got high revs rpms to move it or for it to catch gear

There is a check valve on the line running to the radiator, it is right in front of the engine, passenger side, where the line transitions from metal, to rubber. They like to get choked with crap, and you lose flow. On the 96 though, you should see two things happen if that is the case, first, the trans won't go into overdrive, if it already is, it will drop to third, second, the trans temp light in the dash should come on...... as you don't mention those, I suspect this isn't really the problem. (still a good idea to get rid of the check valve....)

So, try this, take the truck for a drive, get the trans fully warmed, and when the problem presents itself, unplug the 8 pin connector on the trans. This will disable electronic control, so, no automatic function, no TCC, and no O/D. You will have to shift manually. If the truck moves properly, shifts into the gear you tell it to, when you tell it to, you have an electronics problem. If it doesn't..... its rebuild time.

But, given that yours does the same thing with two different transmissions..... I suspect there is a problem elsewhere.

Moparite I put the same yr in except the 96 had a cab I got it out of. I had the same issue before with the original transmission. I went thru the text of the purchase had he said I needed a governor pressure solenoid and it had to be heavy duty because he used it to pull his trailer with hunting gear and four wheelers. Played with her today and noticed a little pinkish fluid but tried moving her about ten minutes after warming her up and I got the bare minimum she would slide just a little in reverse but not drive or the low gears. I don't have od by it being a 2 wheel drive so I'm stuck right qt the moment don't want to have to redrop the transmission because one point I was told it was the torque converter

Do a pressure test. It's on the bottom.
