I am having trouble getting my new fenders that have been painted and the inner fenders welded on to fit on my 2001 Dodge Ram 1500. We have put new body bushings on the radiator support and on the cab but we can’t get it to fit. And the hood will not close.
Did you test fit the fender before paint? I noticed some fitment issues when I changed the left fender years ago, biggest issue was at the top rear corner which bulged outward, but since it didn't hinder the use of the hood or door I let it be.
Remanufactured sheetmetal parts can be way off sometimes, especially the cheap ones (mine was made in Taiwan IIRC), so they need more or less massaging.
We did test it and it fit perfectly, but after we painted and welded the inner fender in and put it on the truck it didn’t fit right. We don’t know if the bushings for the radiator support are to high because it needs to go down and back.

Did you put the fender on (correct fit) then position and tack weld the inner fender in? The inner fender may not be positioned correctly if you welded it off the truck. Can you tell what is stopping it from going back /down?

When I replaced my driver's side front fender, I found a good used rust-free fender to ensure that it would fit well and spare me the work of having to align and weld up the inner wheel well portion. The used fender worked perfectly.

I do know that the inner fender only goes in one spot because we followed the old one. We did weld it off the truck and then we painted it.
