Default 9.25 to Dana 60 rear axle swap

Ty for the add I am new here. I just picked up a 94 2500 4x4 with a blown rear. It has a 9.25 in it. That 9.25 rear only seems to have come on bare bone trucks like mine so the used market is small and I don't want to put a 1500 rear in it. I have a lead on a dana 60 out of a 98 2500 . I am wondering if it would bolt right in or would there be mods needed. I will also be getting the drive shaft to make install easier. Thank you for any help.

The 9.25 came on the 'light duty' 3/4 tons. 7500gvw fellers. Measure the width of the springs, the 8800 lb trucks were 3", which the 98 will have. If yours are also three inches, it is likely a direct swap. The rear wheel speed sensor will be different, but, the older version will go right in there, with only minor modifications, if any. If your truck is a 4x4, make SURE it is the same gear ratio as what you have now.

Welcome to DF!

My truck is a 4x4 and new and old rear both have matching gears 355. Do you think I need to swap drive shafts? I figured the 60 is a little longer so mine would need to be shorter and for 100 bucks just buy the one coming from doner

Yeah, get the driveshaft too. U-joints are different as well, I do believe.

You are going to need the leaf springs and will have to replace the hangers on the frame, which means drilling new holes.
