Default Turn signal intermittent

2001 Dodge Ram 2500 our hazards work fine, but the turn signal will come on for a second then turn off. Sometimes it won’t even turn on at all. It never swaps left for right like I’ve read many experience. The left seems to work more often than right. Should we try the relay first, then go to the turn switch?

2001 has the "combination flasher" for both hazards and regular turn signals. If the hazards work it's most likely not an issue with the flasher itself. Could be the multifunction switch but also check the wiring along the column which is known to pull apart.

Not necessary the timer arm that heats up from the load will be different for two bulbs and for four so there is probably two in there unless it's electronic. There might be a diagram of it in the service manual to be sure.
