Default Questions about 2001 Ram Sport 1500

Bought a 2001 Sport 1500 Quad cab (5.9L) a few months ago. I've asked a few questions on here and you guys have been a lot of help.

I got new headlight assemblies for it, and found that the assemblies for the Sport model are different than from the regular model.

This got me to wondering what else may be different on the Sport models. The truck is loaded, and has a cool hood scoop. Does anyone know of any other differences? I've been trying to find information on the Sport model, but really haven't been able to find much with my searches.

It's not in the best of condition, but it runs great and everyone that sees it likes it or wants to buy it. My plans are to fix/restore it as best I can, and not get rid of it because I really like it.

Also, does anyone have any production numbers as to how many Sport models were made in comparison to the total production for the year?

Body color bumpers, different front bumper and grill, fog lights, (I think), quad headlights, (which you discovered....) and a few other minor cosmetic things I just can't remember at the moment. It's an appearance package, and that's it.

Thanks. Do you know if the rear bumper was different and if it was body color? Right now the truck doesn't have a rear bumper, just what looks like a home made roll pan.

The manufacturers like to call it monochrome when the bumpers color match the body. Ford did it with the "Night" edition of the Bronco circa '92

Ok....I don't actually have much useful to contribute....as you were

Firstly, if you haven't already, have your VIN handy then and go here to get a build sheet:

https://fcacommunity.force.com/RAM/s/equipment-listing

You will instantly get a PDF that you can download. I think I recall reading somewhere that for some older (or was it newer) years than 2001, this build sheet includes the option codes. At least for me, it did not:
.

Secondly, go fill out the form found here:

https://www.dodge.com/webselfservice...ull&category=U

(which I originally found in this FAQ post: https://dodgeforum.com/forum/2nd-gen...-my-truck.html)

Enter you VIN and other required info (including and especially a good email address), and in the "What Can We Help You With?" section put a brief message indicating that you retrieved your "instant" build sheet from the other link and it did not include options codes, and ask that they send you a build sheet that includes option codes. It could take hours or days before you receive an email. Mine looks like this:
.

Thirdly, if you haven't already, go to the 2nd Gen Ram FAQs, DIYs & How To's sub-forum here in the 2nd Gen forum, click into these two stickies...
.
.

...and download the manuals for your vehicle (NOTE: For the parts manual, be sure to get the correct one for regular or extended cab).

You will find having the actual option codes will be helpful at specific times when looking through the manuals (see this thread if you are interested in an example specifically regarding the rear bumper: https://dodgeforum.com/forum/2nd-gen...f-and-mbq.html)

----------------
Beyond these things, which I advise anyone do regardless of whether they have a Sport, the other folks here have covered everything I can think of that is different with the Sport.
