Default Do not re-install

Okay this is a new one on me, took truck for very short drive only to come out and see smoke in the cab...the smell of electrical would knock you out...As I pondered letting the dang thing burn, curiosity got the best of me. Wasn't hard to find, traced it up to a box that says " Do Not Re-Install " Alright guys/gals, what am I looking at?

Well researched some more with different wording. It's the brake light switch. Still curious of why it fried.

Yeah, brake lite switches are like that, it likely failed internally, and shorted out. I would think it would blow a fuse though.... If you can figure out which wire burnt, that was supplying power, I would verify that it has the correct size fuse on the circuit.

It says "do not reinstall" because it self-adjusts when you install it. Removing it breaks it. So, no "re" install for that particular part.

Years ago customer came to me and said that brakelights are lit on my truck. They had been on for something like 30 minutes. Played with the brake pedal a little, and the switch started to work again, though it was mighty hot at that time. Shouldn't the customer come to say about it, my truck might have catch fire as it was parked to unusual place and I would've seen the gleaming brake lights hours later.
