Default 4wd to 2wd 46re

My 4wd 46re is a PATC Viper built trans with converter. Looking at swapping my drivetrain into a more street friendly Dakota instead of my original off-road oriented 1500.

Can I just swap the tail shaft and whatnot on my 4wd trans and convert it to 2wd? Or is that even an option with these transmissions?

Been a few years since I've posted on here and only have mobile browsing now, so it's been difficult navigating the search function.

I *think* you need to swap the O/D housing...... and you are set. There was a thread about this around here, but, that's been a while ago.

What year is the Dakota that you plan to install the 46RE transmission?
