Default New kid on the block🤷‍♂️

Hello all, I’ve had my 99 ram 1500 with the 318 V8 in it for about two months now and I absolutely am in love with it.

currently having some problems ( JUST in the cold weather) it’s almost like I have to choke it like you would with a carburetor. Was wondering if anyone could help point me in the right direction to help take care of the problem?
Up in the northeast and it’s startin to get cold.

in my research that I’ve done so far the best thought I have is the fuel filter and I can’t find the damn thing and a mechanic friend back in Florida told me it’s in the gas tank?

thank y’all for everything and I hope y’all have a great day

Yep, fuel filter is part of the pump module, and not individually serviced. Its BIG though, so, the filter generally lasts longer than the pump.

Think I would be lookin' at the coolant temp sensor. Will need a scanner that can read live data to see what it thinks engine temp is when cold though.... Really, if you own one of these trucks, and want to work on it yourself, a GOOD scanner is pretty much a necessity......

Welcome to DF! You can download the service manual for your truck from here. VERY handy to have.

Might also want to check your battery to ensure that its holding up well during the cold weather months. A battery with lower than normal voltage will cause a whole host of issues.

dude this place is awesome, thank you all so much! And recommendations on the scanner? Never really had one,

also I don’t think it’s the battery, cause she will START then IDLE fine, and THEN she will stall out and sound like you need to choke her down like the dirty girl she is

Welcome to the board… plenty of helpful folks here, so ask away when the questions arise.
Good to see these old girls can still gain new devotees.
