5.9L v8 running normal then tried to die

I have a 1999 5.9L v8 and when i idle too long i can hear my truck start to stutter and die. It’ll sit around 500 rpm and stop communicating, I’m thinking it’s the PCM but i don’t want to spend unnecessary money on something it isn’t. Please tell me your thoughts and have a nice day .
