Default Screaming A/C Compressor

Hey again… 2001 dodge ram 1500 5.2L V8 RWD Auto trans.

I just got in my truck to go get my dad some coffee. Started the truck. Let it idle for about 30 seconds and right towards the end of my idle. Before I put it in drive. A very annoying whining sound emerged. So I put my truck in drive and go up to the store, the sound stops when driving. Seems to only happen at lower RPM. I checked It at the store and the sound is coming straight from the A/C Comp.

should I just take the belt off and spin it by hand to see?

(Unrelated) fixed my ABS/BRAKE light with a new speed sensor.

Since I have a case of laziness sometimes, I'd open the hood and check it. You can also turn on/off the A/C to see if the sound changes.

It’s a little too cold to do a bunch of digging at the moment but it’s 100% my A/C compressor. I’d show the video if I knew how to attach it to my thread. I’m going to take the belt off and inspect some more on a better day

Could be the A/C clutch is going bad. You could replace just the clutch, however, with pick and pay salvage yards around in your area and potential high mileage on the existing A/C compressor, it's likely easier to just replace the entire A/C compressor, which tends to be my choice of action. That does require re-charging the system A/C system by vacuuming the system and refilling it with R-134a refrigerant.

i have absolutely no idea how to refill it. Not gonna lie lol. Would a YouTube video help me with such a job? Vacuum and refrigerant sounds intimidating.

nvm I figured it out
