ABS and BRAKE lights come on after 2 minutes.
Hi all,
I just purchased a 1999 2500 5.9L 2wd 5 speed manual transmission with 210K miles on it. (unmodified / all original) No rust.
The ABS and BRAKE lights come on 2 minutes after start. regardless if I'm driving or not. I timed it several times and its right at 2 minutes.
The speedometer works as soon as I start driving so that rules out the rear dif. speed sensor.
Looking at the front axels the truck doesn't have speed sensors or wiring harness. (maybe its just for the 4WD trucks) ?
The truck drives and brakes ok.
I would appreciate any thoughts on this.

The typical parts store scanners can only talk to the PCM on these old trucks. The ABS, airbag module etc. are connected via a separate bus. Does the ABS work until the lights come on ? You can test that on a dirt road or similar.
This doesn't deserve a new thread but I thought I'd say I finally successfully pulled brake codes from an '02 2500 CTD w 4WABS with an old SnapOn Modis I have.
My lesser scanners wouldn't do it but the Modis came through. It first told me to use personality key K24 but apparently that didn't work and then it told me to use K13, which worked

Probably gonna have to have it scanned, to see what the ABS is whining about.....
