Default Steering Gear. Am I missing anything here?

So after murdering my vacuum pump and power steering pump months ago I've had a recurring leak from the replacement pump. Finally decided to try and fight it when topping off other fluids yesterday. Long story short i trimmed the ends of my hoses and re hose clamped them and thought I was victorious. Naive was I. The pitman arm shaft was leaking worse than I'd ever seen my power steering leak and seeing as I've been running on six inches of slop this whole time anyways I elected to get a new steering box (O'Reilly's due to poverty) rather than new shaft seals.

On to our issue. I'm looking over old vs new here after pulling the old and the top end here looks a little different. The new one is greased and recessed like maybe there's a seal that goes there and the old has a plate or a shroud looking deal on it. My question is of the old assembly is there stuff from the steering shaft end of the old box I need to remove and transfer to the new or are they just designed differently.

Apologies if this is a dumb question I'm new to wrenching and might be in over my head.

Looks like just an updated design. Though I would like to think there is a seal on the new box down in there a bit deeper??? Before going to all the trouble of installing and testing, maybe see if the parts store has another one on the shelf to look at?

Yeah it's not SOP to have to move anything over other than the pitman arm.

You could look at all the photos on RockAuto, they can sometimes be a good source

This is what came on the box when I pulled it out of the packaging. On advisement of a buddy who knows more than me I'm going to pull the box and slip this back on the steering shaft end. I had thought it was something along the lines of the plastic plugs for the powers steering lines but he recommended putting it back on to prevent **** from getting in the top end and wearing out the moving parts. Thanks for the replies guys.
