Borgeson steering shaft
Ok i bit the bullet and ordered a steering shaft. Wow it sure is pretty !!! One problem …. The steering box end doesnt have a key slot in it like my factory shaft . Looks like it won’t work on a factory steering box will it ? Anybody in this group have this shaft and what did you do ? It’s part # 950

I thought Borgeson used to say if you wanted to use their box with a stock steering shaft you'd need to grind a flat on the input because their box input is completely round.
I'm not sure how that would affect the reverse scenario of a stock box but a Borgeson shaft, but I'm not sure it would prevent fitment?
OP, did you try to install it?
Also, where did you find the shaft? I think they're no longer in production?

yes you are correct. It wants you to file a flat surface for the set screw. I actually dry fitted it and it works fine ! Looks like I need to do some filing and paint the shaft before install. I got it on Amazon you can still find them online
did you file a flat spot on the steering box for the set screw of the shaft ?
I have one. Installed it a few years back with a Blue top box. I did have to grind a small flat spot for the set screw. I also so used a drop of thread lock on the set screw threads cause I'm the nervous type.

good to know. Did the shaft make an improvement ?
For the life of me I can't remember. I do, however, remember drilling small indents to the column side for the set screws, and using blue Locktite on them.
It's hard to say because I installed it with a new box, but my steering has been near perfect since replacement. The stock shaft did have play in it. When you grabbed it and gave a good shake, you could feel it give, so out it came.
