I recently had my rear end rebuilt. A couple months later, the differential started making a grinding sound when I turned at slow speed, which was more pronounced after the vehicle had warmed up. The rear end shop advised i a new Posi rear end locker and it was unrelated to the previous rebuild. They also stated Dodge no longer makes the locker. Any idea where I can get one?

 

Replace it with something better... Detroit true trac, or similar.

 

Have they pulled down the rear axle to determine that the factory limited slip unit is indeed toast? If not, the 9.25 rear limited slip unit can be taken apart and have new clutches installed, if the clutch retaining clips haven't broken and caused carnage -

 

If you do a search, you're looking for a sur-grip rear. GM used the positrac.

 

Almost sounds like they forgot to add friction modifier to the oil after the rebuild.

But I agree that a Detroit Truetrac would be a better way to go.

 

They never made a locker but a limited slip they did. And you can get parts to rebuild them. With the true trac you never have to worry about clutch packs wearing out because it doesn't have any.
