Overdrive!....
When I start my truck in the morning the OD off light is off and my truck shifts normal, but about 5 or 10 minutes into my drive it disengages out of overdrive and the OD off light comes on and it will not shift back into overdrive at all the rest of that day.. Until..I start my truck the next morning... Then it will be in overdrive for a few minutes then go off. My switch on the gear shift was missing the button so I replaced it and still nothing I've been avoiding the highway and taking back roads as much as possible because I don't want to mess up my transmission..any advice on how to get overdrive back on or a way to bypass it and make it stay on permanently?? thanks guys.

Is the transmission temperature light on when the transmission won't go into overdrive? Has the check valve been removed from the transmission cooling line near the radiator? Have you had the PCM scanned for any pending or stored codes?
Lastly, what year is your truck and what engine is in it?

I'm not sure on the check valve it's a 98 with the 5.2 and yes the trans temp light came on recently the scanner said it had a liquid temperature sensor out so I figured I'd have to do that just didn't know if that would be the reason overdrive wouldn't be engaging
If the transmission is detecting that it's overheating, it could possibly be the cause of your issue. You can also reference on the check valve removal process here, as a clogged check valve can contribute to the transmission overheating - https://dodgeforum.com/forum/2nd-gen...46rh-46re.html
Right on man yeah I didn't know that. I'll go check in the morning.
So you would recommend checking the valve before I change the temp sensor?
Because yeah that makes sense I went out earlier after not driving for several hours just to see and sure enough overdrive was on and the OD off light was off so that means my transmission temp was to high so it "disabled" overdrive and when it cooled off after sitting for awhile it enabled it.
