Default Suggested stereo replacement for '94?

Hi,

I've just inherited a '94 1500 that my Granddad bought new. I'm not planning to make many alterations, but I'd really like to have a radio with bluetooth. I found this unit from Retro Manufacturing which looks a LITTLE stock, but not very.

Does anyone have experience with that, or with retrofitting later Ram radios? I do NOT have the Infinity sound system.

Thanks,

Brian

You can buy a radio install kit from Metra and install a wide variety of radio units in your truck. You can check here for part numbers of the install kit - http://www.metraonline.com/parts/MET...K/M-TURB_KIT/2

Thanks! Looks like their kit requires permanently altering the dash and eliminating the ash tray:

Any ideas that wouldn't require cutting the dash bezel?

If you want a double DIN sized unit, yes, that would be required. If you want a standard sized radio (single-DIN), you might consider using one of the other kits that wouldn't require eliminating the ash tray.

I'd get a single din kit and a Pioneer radio. You'll probably want speakers also.

You can also get a flip out style and keep the single din.

So did '95. I have adapter for single DIN radio, got one that has no CD player, previous player destroyed two discs so I deciced not to bring cd's to the truck. Only thing that annoys with the BT is that it loses connection every other time when you switch from ignition on to acc, and vice versa. I could fix that by not wiring it to the acc, but then I'd have to switch radio on and off everytime I time drive. Might make some delay circuit that keeps the unit on for some 5 seconds

Only gripe is the radio automatically turns on Dolby NR, which muffles the sound, but easily switch it off pushing radio preset 1. Some such adapters aren't true 2chnl stereo so check 'em out closely.

Thanks for all your feedback! Does anyone have experience with retrofitting a later Dodge radio? Or with Retro Manufacturing?
