Default 4x4 swapping 1996 Cummins

Bought a Cummins with 168000km and a very clean body. But it’s a 4x2 looking into what it’s gonna take for a manual swap 4x4 frame swap already picked up a frame and sand blasted and painted it need to rebuild front axle and replace some stuff on the rear axle and still looking for a nv4500. From what I know the frame swap is can, fenders, bed comes of pull engine put it into the new frame swap everything over and we should be good to go right?

There were some differences over the years, but, for the most part, yeah. Just need to be sure the donor frame is for the same cab/bed configuration is you 2wd truck. Also, need to cut the hole for the 4x4 shifter. Where it mounts depends on year of the truck.

i never done what your going to do but let me suggest that since you are if you going to do the 4x4 i would use a front axle from.a 2001 or 2 . The reason for this is you can have a lot better brakes . You can and i did this alright to my 95 4x4 is 3 gen brakes. You can install 3 gen track bar. 3 gen t style steering . I also installed a yukon spin free and timkin bearings . The cad delete axle ... Now transmission i have a g56 transmission in my truck which was a deal lol . I finally cut out the floor and welded in a floor out of a 98 for the floor shifter . This is not necessary but it looks factory not patches ect . I saw on a forum where a dellow used a zf6 out of a ford . And the transfer case . Plenty slick deal with .72 overdrive ratio . If i had it over to do i might of went that way . Mine is ok . Val air dual disc. Bm short shifter. Aluminum one piece drive shaft , rebuilt transmission and tc case . ..I have a hydroboost system on my 95 which i like . You can up the pressure on the system with a higher pressure power steering pump . I going to install the 4.5 g pm and 1550 psi i think pump on my truck . Do what ever you want but there are several advantages on the 2001 to 2 axle . Good luck
