Default Vehicle stalls

I have a 98 dodge ram 1500 sport with the 5.9 engine. I can drive about 20 miles stop and turn the engine off. When I start it back it will fire up then die, 2nd attempt it will fire right up. When I put it start to back up and apply the brake it dies. I give it gas get it going and it runs fine. I have installed a new tps and egr valve. I have visibly checked for vaccum leak but have found none. The battery that is in the vehicle isn't the recommended size as it is a little smaller. Could this be my problem?

Curious, a 1998 motor shouldn't have an EGR valve on it. Are you sure about that?

Might want to check the fuel pressure to see what it reads. There should be a port on the fuel rail to allow for the fuel pressure check.

Thanks for clarifying. As for the battery, as long as it has enough cranking amps and general amp capacity, you should be fine.

Cleaning the throttle body wouldn't hurt either.
