Default Light misfire may be affected transmission

As some of you gentlemen know I have been having issues off and on. I still haven't figured out why I still have a misfire after full tune up, New rebuilt injectors and sensor on flywheel. I have been dealing with some odd issues in the morning on first drive with transmission as well when driving around a level speed in the 45 to 50 mph range where it feels like back and forth motion almost like something being out of balance but everything from tires to ball joints have been replace new. You will feel this but stops the moment you let off the gas. I stopped by both AMACO and Mr. Transmission this morning to gain some idea of what can be done.1) They both are two weeks out before they can look at it and both said if I have a misfire, that will affect the transmission. They recommend fixing the light misfire but as you know, I have been trying to solve that issue. lol

Now this morning after letting it warm up and off to work. It did slip a few times but after going a block or two settled down but did throw a code before reaching my job that said speed sensor wasn't working so I did replace that before I took it to the two shops I mentioned. It hasn't slipped again but it acts up more after sitting all night. When I leave work, it just does that weird back and forth issue /out of balance feeling but shifts ok.

What is the tach doing when it's doing its back/forth issue? Failing TPS can cause the PCM to drop/engage TCC with just the SLIGHTEST movement of the gas pedal......

The tach barely shows anything. Mostly you can feel it. TPS was recently changed but all those sensors on the throttle body are new. The only part I haven't replaced is the cam sensor. I have dodge it because it's so hard to get to the distributor. If memory servers me right. It's located under the rotor. Both transmission shops learn toward the torque convertor lock out is what I am feeling when I'm at a level speed. I feel it but when I let off the gas, it goes away but returns when get back on the gas. They said until I get the misfire corrected, I wont know for sure if my issues are do to that or if something else may be going on? Sorry I am terrible on explaining things.

This is why I feel I am dealing with two issues that I thought was one. I know most shops around here seem to be 2 to 3 weeks out before they can even think of looking at it. My Zurich isn't giving me much to go on.

Was looking up camshaft sensor to get an idea of cost but found out that it's not the disk shape like those under the distributor but more like the crankshaft install. Where would I look for it? My guess would be towards the front of the motor.

If you have the V-6, or V-8 engine, the cam sensor is indeed under the distributor cap, but, it's call 'pick-up coil' by most parts vendors. (even though that is NOT what it does.....) I doubt that is your problem though. It only tells the pcm where in the injector firing order it is. Theoretically, it isn't used once the engine starts.... Usually, they are like 30 bucks or so.

Yeah I've personally seen the pickup coil cause a no-start but that's it. And IIRC it threw a code. With a topside creeper R&R was pretty easy. I did it in the dirt parking lot of my non-profit (I deliberately brought my topside creeper)

OP, are you getting any pending codes for misfire(s)?

The only code I got was for the speed sensor which I replaced. I think the light misfire isn't the issue since driving home today it started acting odd then started slipping in third gear. Something about going between 45 to 55mph when I was noticing what I thought felt like either a gear bouncing back and forth but was told by two transmission shops that it sounded like the lock out was what I was feeling. Almost like something being out of balance but would stop if I took my foot off the gas. I followed the video step by step on rebuild. My guess is either a pump issue or valve body. It was acting up more after sitting all night but yesterday is when the slipping started as well as the code popped up. After I changed it, everything seemed ok but coming home today not. It got worse but No codes at all.

AAMCO is two weeks out before I can have them test it. He didn't have a issue that I rebuilt it as the guy down the road from me did. I'm going to focus to find the misfire issue and try to solve that first. So for now, I am just going to park it. Thankful I have another truck to get me through till then. It was a pain dropping and putting it back in by myself last time. lol. Getting too old for that.
