Default 46rh questions

After driving my truck for about 4 hours in 1st gear over some mountains, i now have a take-off shudder. So if im stopped and apply throttle too hard, it shudders. Seems to be getting worse.

I also had my driveshaft cut to fit new rear end (i had Chrysler 12 1/4 and put a dana.

How much transmission fluid can i expect to replace if i drop the pan on my 46rh?

Do you think fresh fluid (mine got very dark) will help? I've never really dealt with transmission issues and now have to go back across.

Is there a chance the driveshaft angle is off and causing it?

I also didnt add any friction modifier to the "new" rear dana 70. Just 70/140. Donor truck build sheet says the d70 is an open diff.

(Never faq error, ptsd/adhd on my end. Lol)

So i dropped the pan for exploratory reasons if nothing else and my filter was nasty. I just did filter about 4 years ago but has seen some off-road towing and etc.

There was a lot more stuff on the magnet than i expected and a couple small slivers of metal. Lots of flakes and they werent all that small either.

Put a new filter and fresh fluid plus some lucas. Fingers crossed but i know a rebuild is in my future.

That isn't the worst I have seen, and the trans still worked.... Did changing the fluid/filter solve your issue?

Didnt really seem to. After lots of reading last night it sounds like forward clutch pack is on its way out. Transmission still works fine unkess you step on it from a standstill but im worried about what crossing the mountains will be like.

I would have dropped the valve body to see what the bands/drums look like.
