I have a 1996 1500 4x2 with the 5.9l magnum that recently had a fire. In the process of ordering parts to rebuild it and need help with this one that was cooked pretty good.
It was located on the driver's side of the vehicle, mounted to the rear bolt of the fuel injector rail. Appears to have had a hose running from it at some point. Might be some kind of emissions thing, if so, is it necessary to replace it? Any help would be appreciated!
That part is a piece of the emissions system. I believe a hose from the charcoal canister goes to it. You can find it in the parts manual. A link to the parts manuals for your year truck can be located here - https://dodgeforum.com/forum/2nd-gen...s-manuals.html
Looks like you are right, evap canister purge valve. Here's a still shot from a video I took a bit ago before everything happened. Just wondering now where those hoses connected to (probably the canister under the body). I will probably grab one from a junk yard truck.
