Default Dropped my driveshaft….

Need some help guys and girls. It’s a 2nd gen 2500 4x4 auto. Dropped the rear driveshaft. Pretty certain it’s a Dana 70 rear. It lunched the u joint and probably galled the yoke.

Since the parts are no longer there, can you please tell me which u joint and yoke do I need? I THINK I need a spicer 1410.

Also, besides a new strap kit (ha ha) is there anything holding the u joint on? Any more clips than the 4 c clips? Any other brackets or hardware?

Is the yoke supposed to have a more
pronounced lip than what’s here?

The middle part of the driveshaft near the boot has a much more pronounced lip that the c clips obviously ride on.

One side has a tab that holds even a failed u joint cap in place.

I hope these pics help. Part numbers or links would be AMAZING. I have been looking for a long time to try to ascertain which one exactly before I go loading the parts cannon since there are so many variants

Thank you so much

Depends on the year. 94 /95 are definitely not the same as 96+ (?)

Which i guess depends on the rear end that you say is a 70.

And that one is inner c clips.

sorry, it’s an 10-99 build date. I think the data sheet wherever it is denotes a 70 and doesn’t have the sexy chunky look of the 80. Any pics for me to be able to see what it should look like together? And can you help me with u joint part # and maybe yoke if you think it’s messed up? Thank you!

For u-joints i just always measure cap dia and distance across caps. You almost have to, even with the best part listings because there's so many options.

The yoke nub does look screwed up. A new yoke should be easy because the 70 doesn't use a crush sleeve. You'll need a yoke and new pinion nut and big torque wrench. Tom Woods or Randy's could get you set up there.

Do you have any BOM info? That never hurts.

What's the drive shaft look like? Are you reusing it or getting a new one? (99-01 dana breakdown) lists two different ones depending on the bom #, 3-4-11891-1X and 3-4-11851-1(both 60 and 70 axles use the same #'s) Have a close look at yours there may be a # on it. Caps/bolts are not shown so you have to do more research. Have a look on the dana site you may find what u joint you need also.

Straps and bolts are available pretty cheap at your local parts store.

It’s definitely the 70. I read somewhere these drive shafts are not serviceable, is that true?

Also, a flat piece of pressed on metal fell off during the attempted removal of the middle u joint, I assume that is a counterbalance and it can be reinstalled with in weld or maybe a tack weld? That u joint is stuck on good with rust.
