Hey guys, I have (I believe) stock steel wheels on my 94 Ram 2500. They have shot tires on them, and with winter coming I'm planning on buying my first set of brand new tires.😆 Planning on going with Falken Wildpeak At3w tires. Other suggestions welcome. The paint is peeling off of my wheels, and I like the look of aluminum wheels, so I was thinking this would be a good time to switch.
Here's my delima, I have spent hours reading old threads, and can't figure out what will fit with out spacers, which i dont feel are safe. My truck has a 4" lift on it, and doesn't rub at all with my 265/75/16s. Oh, and both my front and rear axels are dana 60’s.
Will these rims work? They're $200 and 2 hours away. Or should I just go with stock aluminum 2nd gen rims? Or repaint my steelys? Thanks in advance!

I'm partial to the 16"x8" Dodge factory aluminum wheels used on some 2000-2001 Ram 2500 trucks. I run a set of these wheels and center caps on my truck with 33" tires (275/75/R16). The only issue with running this wheel on non-disc brake Dana 60 rears is that the drum doesn't allow the wheel to fit on the rear axle, since the wheel is deeper/wider than the stock steel/chrome wheels. This issue is easily fixed by turning the brake drum's outer stiffening rib (on the rear of the drum) between 1/16" - 1/8" all the way around and the drum will then clear the wheels without issue.. From my experience, these tires are the tallest you can run without any issue of rubbing anywhere.

So if I want to avoid modifying my drums, am I pretty much stuck with the rims I currently have?
Thanks so much for your quick reply!
Just FYI, the 17" aluminum wheels you displayed in your initial post should work without modifying the rear drums since they're 17" diameter. Just make sure that the overall tire height is no more than 33" and there should be no rubbing or issues, if the truck is at the stock height.
I'm just personally partial to the 16" factory aluminum wheels, since they were used during the 2nd gen production run and I think they are a nice looking wheel set.

Perfect! I think the 16s you shared are nice too, but i dont want to put extra money into messing with the drums, ince I'm planning to eventually put a newer dana 80 with disk brakes on it.
Do you know if my factory lug nuts will work with those hub caps?
Thanks again!
I know the factory 2nd gen lug nuts work with the factory caps for the 16" aluminum wheels (shown below), but not sure about the 17" aluminum wheels. I suspect they would, but I haven't tried it.

We put those wheels (or at least I think they were - they came from an '07.5 2500) on a square body Chevy with D44 front and 14b rear. The right TRE wanted to rub the wheel but 3 seconds with an angle grinder provided clearance (very minor interference IOW)
It's a great way to get into 17's since 16 is kinda going away. The used market for tires is way stronger for 17"
