Default Transfer case questions

Just in the midst of doing my transmission swap and started wondering, what are the chances my take-off/launch shudder is the transfer case either low on fluid or damaged?

I know my tranny is pretty cooked but im wondering if i should use my tcase or a spare i have but dont know much about.

Unfortunately i dont know enough about tcases to bench test them.

**also having some trouble understanding the shift linkages. Do i have to disconnect the tcase lever from inside? Factory manual isnt very clear

T-case is really simple.... just not much going on in there. 2wd it's a straight through direct connection, 4wd just engages the gear that runs the chain for the front driveshaft. Planetary gearset for 4 Lo. It isn't likely to be your take off shudder.

See what the fluid looks like in your t-case. Take it from there.

I think i got the transmission unhooked properly but unsure of tcase. Seems like you either pop the ball joint and risk busted plastic or remove bolt at selector pivot jist below.

If it's the plastic ball joint ill.use a little heat and lube to coax it.

The shift lever on the side just sits on a flatted shaft. Just take off the nut.

As stated, it's direct power through in 2wd. The odds of a shudder are extremely low. Grinding, growling, yes. Ghost shifting to 4hi, sometimes. But not a shudder at take off usually.
