This is the RPMs when I’m stopped. Is that too low?

Another thing I spotted was while I was cleaning the throttle body I noticed the valve breather hose wasn’t on…it’s not even there I think it fell off idk how long it has been like that could that cause the issue I’m having?

Probably not. That's the hose that goes to the filter box, right?

Based on the throttle body cleaning you did, unless you have a sensor go bad, you should be in good shape for awhile.

Lastly, check your intake plenum gasket. Here is more complete information about that common issue - https://dodgeforum.com/forum/2nd-gen...um-thread.html

Default Starting issue

So I changed the air filter a couple weeks ago, it’s not the stock 2nd gen boxy air filter. It’s an edelbrock 10 inch air filter. I went to go start my truck tonight and it started then died right away, my buddy said my engine could be suffocating so we took the air filter off and it started right away I drove it home without the filter on it and it’s driven better then it ever has the whole time I’ve had it. Could the air filter not being the stock air filter be the problem? All the sensors around my carburetor are new and I recently cleaned the throttle body.

Unless you operate in a REALLY nasty environment, the air filter won't choke the engine. Your gas mileage may suffer a point or two if it is getting plugged up, but, that's about it.

so what could be causing the problem. When I went to start it last night I heard my fuel pump working and my starter was clicking working fine, my voltages where what they should be. When I went to go start it it started then died right away so I tried again this time with my foot on the gas and it stayed running then as soon as I took my foot off it died. After that I would turn the key and it would try its hardest to start but nothing. It didnt start till we finally took the filter off. My IAC sensor is clean and fairly new, throttle body is clean. I’ve been dealing with this problem since September.
