A ZF8 out of a Hellcat or similar(not sure exactly what dodges they are used it) will bolt up. Any other manufacture a adapter will be needed. I want to see a adapter for the big blocks! I heard someone is working on one but not confirmed yet. You can get the controller here. But if you are going to spend all the $ for this swap it may be better to do a complete engine /trans harness and pcm swap out of a vehicle that already has one. A 392 hemi with a 8 speed sounds pretty good to me! Gearvenders made overdrive and underdrive units that bolted on to old school transmissions with out od(727). They made adapters to fit most of the big three transmissions of the day. They bolted on where the tail shaft extension was( the 4XRE have the overdrive there now). The under drive unit may work to spread out the gearing but you would need a way to disengage it after the trans went into overdrive. Not sure how it would work on kick downs or if it's even possible. Check out the gearing of the ZF8 compared to a 46RE(2.45, 1.45, 1.00, 0.69) The ZF's first gear is 4.71/5.00(depending on the gen). A 46RE starts around third on a ZF8. Wide gear ratio!
