Default Need help 2001 Dodge Ram 1500 5 speed 5.2L

So I recently bought this truck and it had p0601 code on it I had been driving it. It was all fine but then it started to only accelerate to about 2500 rpms and it was basically bogging down and not accelerating any further almost like it was hitting a rev limiter. So I finally a got a good pcm and thought that would solve my problem but it has not. Its not throwing any codes and I drove it for about 30 minutes after I installed the new pcm. I've tried to search for the answer throughout the forum and on google but I can't seem to find one. I'm hoping someone will know what issue is. Thank you for your time.

It could be just rolled the truck over to 81750 miles. I did read that some people have similar symptoms but I haven't had it die on me. Also I've heard no rattling. Whats the best way to go about clearing that? As when I took a peek under the truck I didn't see any bolts around it. Do i just do a header back exhaust at that point

The cat can be cut out and a new cat can be welded back in the same place. I did this a while back, but decided to upgrade the cat a bit so I could run 3" diameter pipe from the back of the cat on back. I used the following parts and had a muffler shop weld them in and fabricate a tailpipe, plus weld on a bung for the rear O2 sensor:

Magnaflow Converter - 99047HM (dual 2" inlets, 3" outlet, front O2 sensor port)

Dynomax UltraFlo Welded Muffler - 17233

Please note that this assumes that your truck has one cat. Some have two.

You can remove the front 02 or loosen the y pipe bolts to the manifolds and see if it runs better. Might want to check fuel pressure also.

So this morning I went out and loosened the Y bolts to the manifolds and boy its a different truck so I'd say the cat is definitely clogged. They have this on jegs but it says it doesn't fit the 2000 or 01 but I'm in Florida we don't have inspections here. Also do you think if i installed this it would have a constant check engine light or if i just deleted the cat off the stock portion? thanks for your help everyone.

I think your exhaust is larger behind the cat..... so the pipe may or may not fit. I think pacesetter makes one as well.....

You will likely get cat efficiency codes.....

I found the cat I'm going to get. I was also thinking of getting their cat back exhaust since it seems like it'll be easier to install all of it while I'm under there anyway.
