Default Trailer Brake Controller Wiring

Howdy,

I am going to wire the trailer brake controller. On the 1995, there is just a blue wire for the trailer brakes. Therefore, I need to hardwire the positive, ground, and brake sense. As for the 12 volts positive wire and the ground wire, are there any wires under the dash that would be large enough to tap into? I already have a wire going through the firewall to the battery positive terminal and cannot easily add another wire without changing battery terminals. Any suggestions are appreciated!

Look under the dash for the pre-wired trailer brake controller. Even if your truck didn't come with a towing package, the connector tends to be there anyway. Usually it's just taped up somewhere. I think it's a blue connector....

The 1995 models did not have a connector. Just a blue wire. Therefore I have to wire everything myself.

Are you absolutely sure? My 1996 truck had the connector and it was a bear to find. It was very well hidden near the parking brake in a big clump of wiring under the dash.
