Default Transmission Output Shaft Spline Geometry

Hello guys,

From what I understand, our trucks either came with a 23 spline for the light duty or 29 spline output shafts for the heavy duty. However, does anyone know more details about the spline geometry? Are they 30 degree pressure angle? Center or side fit splines? They look like involute splines but I'm not sure. Do we know if they are ANSI B92.1 standard splines? Or possibly the diametral pitch? Fit class? etc. I'm trying to reproduce these splines and get new shafts custom machined but am having a hard time finding the required details. This is where an old engineer or an experienced machinist would be of great help, as I am neither.

The best I've been able to approximate is that they are ANSI B92.1 center fit, 30 degree pressure angle, 20 diametral pitch, involute splines. Not sure of the fit class, but this is just me measuring with calipers and for some reason I'm still .025" off on the major diameter measurement. leading me to believe they may be something else. but none of the metric splines seem to come close to the diameters I am measuring. Confirmation would be great.

Thanks for any help guys.

No problem getting new oem shafts. But I'm trying to make a custom transfer case with a rear pto port. But I want to retain the stock output shaft spline geometry so I can just shorten my driveshaft. This is a long term project but it requires quite a bit of reverse engineering. Starting with the spline geometry.
