Hey gang. Just finished installing a new cat along with the manifold-to-cat pipes and 2 new O2 sensors. I won't bore you with the why of it and the grand adventure I had getting this damn thing in. My problem now (which didn't make me cry) is that, after all of that, the front O2 sensor cord doesn't reach far enough to plug in to the socket! It's about 4 inches too short and the socket is bundled with other cords and I can't really detach it to get slack from that end. I had considered cutting up the old O2 sensor and splicing the wires for the extra length. But, I figured it'd be better to pick your brains first. Besides, it gave me an excuse to walk away from the project for a bit.
If you’re not inclined to swap the sensor for one with the correct length lead, you can get extensions.
They around 12” from memory, so you’ll go from too short to too long.
Make sure you get the right connector.
I went cheap and got MAXFAVOR O2 sensors. The listing said the upstream one had a 12 inch lead on it, I figured that was long enough. A couple people with the same vehicle as me reported them working just fine, a few complained the lead was too short. Looks like I'm in that category.
