I recently bought a 1999 24v with a 47re the truck is 4x4. When put in park the truck can still roll freely. Any advice? I was told to replace the parking pawl, is this a pain to do?

 

There is a rod that runs from the rooster comb, to the parking pawl, and it can be a pain to put back in place properly if you drop the valve body, or whathaveyou. That may be the entire problem..... Might be worth it to drop the pan, and have a look.... change the filter and fluid while you are at it.

There are service manuals available in the faq/diy section, wouldn't hurt to browse thru, see how things are *supposed* to work... Makes spotting the snafu a bit easier.
