springs
thinkin about puting 2500 springs in my 98 1500 4x4.
are the springs from a 3500 any bigger, or are they just stiffer.
for the back, im thinkin of putting airbags in the back, instead of adding leafs... good idea?
if i do this i am considering going with rancho 9000's any one have these?
thanks

RE: springs
I was wondering alos about swapping in some springs, but from a 3500 onto my 2500. Does anyone know if they will fit/add any height over 2500 stock springs
? Salvage yard just pulled a totalled 3500 in this week and I'm thinking about jumping on it for spare parts(sadly, the burnt up, destroyed Cummins is beyond repair).

Since we are on the subject of spring, I have a 1500 5 speed and was wondering if I can pull a leaf out to make the rear-end set down just a little lower. I don't pull anything because I have a rollpan instead of a bumper and I dont haul anything. Would this be alright or will I run into problems down the road?

I have 2500 springs and 2" leveling kit, and airbags on the back. Won't say it rides like a caddy but hey I bought a TRUCK. I run bout 25lbs of air normally just jack it up when needed. I am not sure if the 3500 springs are any larger in diameter or not.

To the best of my knowledge, 3500 springs are not any taller then 2500 springs, just heavier I think. I don't think you would see any significant lift by swaping from 2500 springs to 3500 springs, just a stiffer ride. If you have a 1500, I wouldn't go any bigger then 2500 springs, you should see about 2.5 inches of lift. I have seen lots of guys on the forums doing the airbag thing like RedKnob. They seem to really like it, escpecailly if you tow or haul loads. One thing to be careful about is if you off-road. Not all airbags are meant for off-road use. I saw a funny video on the internet once where a guy went offroading, and blew out both airbags under extreme articulation (he was in a Chevy, so he had issues anyway). Just make sure if you like to off-road that the airbags you buy are approved for that type of use.
Rancho 9000's are fantacstic shocks in my opinion. I love mine.

RE: springs
It definately increased the overall hieght, I have yet to pull up to any STOCK 2500 or 3500 that sit higher. But there are a couple disadvantages on the practical side of things, like when plowing it is difficult to see the plow and backing up at nite can be scetchy even with my additional lights back there.
