Fuel fill issue and evap code
2001 ram 1500 5.9 gas
i’m debating on whether it is my vapor canister that needs to be replaced. I just replaced my fuel pump recently but both before and after I noticed that the fuel pumps would cut out if they were going too fast filling into the tank and today I ended up with a code. P0442
What’s the likely hood that it’s the canister?

I'm confused.... the pump cuts out?? Do you mean the gas pump??? If so, check the vent hose for the filler neck, see if it has collapsed.
I also notice that the pumps seem to have gotten more sensitive about fill rate.....After having my filler neck replaced, gotta be careful with positioning of the nozzle, else it cuts out far too easily. (It was replaced because it had rusted out, and I was putting a fair bit of gas on the ground when I filled my tank. Not a good idea.....)

I replaced my filler neck at the same time that I changed out my tanks fuel pump. Although the hoses were still original.
Yes, I’m referring to the gas station pumps in this issue
I tend to find that I can’t place the fuel pump nozzle in all the way and fill the tank at full. I have to pull it out slightly and lower the amount it fills. To prevent it from cutting off I also noticed one day that I had fuel coming back up out of the filler neck

Overfilling.
Hard to judge that when the system is working the way its supposed to.....
Just gotta kinda feel it out what you can get away with now. Still, check and make sure the hoses aren't kinked, or otherwise blocked.

The system will auto cut off even when I have it out halfway. As it normally should, I just can’t place the nozzle in fully and have it run without it almost automatically clicking off whether I fill the tank entirely or not.
Shortly after my filler was replaced, I had the same problem, but, eventually, it got over it. I have no idea what changed.....
