I had a couple P pump 53 blocks in tractors and you could see it straight down under the injection pump. The power steering/vac pump would block it from easy view in a Dodge.

If you cants find any numbers at all the possibility of have a later series casting is very likely. The 56 was stamped under the timing cover on the front of the block.
