1997 Ram 1500 Trans
Ok i love my truck but lately its been driving me crazy. 2 years ago I had to re build my transmission (46RE). Everything has been fine. Over the last month i believe its between 4th and 5th gear the rpms go up to about 4/4500 rpms then shifts kind of hard. But if i turn off the truck and turn it back on its back to normal and shifts fine. This doesn't happy every day, but when it does do it on that day it will be all day!
Over the last month i have changed out my PCM, MY Governor solenoids and the other solenoids' had a trans flush and they told me no metal everything looks fine. I truly believe it's electric. It driving me crazy and i need advice......Thanks in advance

Works except when it wont .... sounds like a problem I went through on a different Dodge transmission recently.
Sometimes start it and is fine, next time it would be in limp mode .... I would turn it off and shut the car off and it would then be fine when started.
Eventually got worse and then it stayed in limp mode.
I finally found the issue it was a plug connector on the transmission wire harness. My TCM gets power right from the positive battery cable ... there was a connection right behind the battery that was heavily corroded.
I was just following to the end the harness for the TCM and had to remove the battery and battery tray to get to the harness then found the hidden connection.
I'm certain your truck will be different then my FWD Caravan .... but the process of following the harness to check all connections would be the same.
