Default Shifting and idle issue

1999 ram 1500 5.2L v8

Looking to get some headway on my Ram project. I’ve been experiencing some weird issue regarding both idle and shifting simultaneously.

Symptoms:

surging idle / steady increase in idle / high idle
Hard shifts at high rpm ( 3k ) and does not shift into 4th gear

Technical:

The truck was running completely fine and then I started to get stalling while idling and rough idle, along with that came a P0123 code for the TPS. So I replaced the TPS and the code cleared itself, when I first started it up it was idling at like 1k. Took it for a test drive and I lost 4th gear and it was reving high before hard shifting. I was on the highway and 60mph was around 3k rpms. Got p0123 and p0121 after test drive. checked all vacuum lines, checked trans fluid, cleaned throttle body, replaced IAC valve and cleared the codes and started it up again. When I started it up the idle started at 1k and then kept increasing until like 1800rpms at idle in park. When I shift it into reverse or drive the idle drops down to 600, took it for a test drive and still no 4th gear.

im not sure if this is a trans issue, or a TPS issue that’s causing problems with communication between the ECU and TCU

P0123 Throttle Position Sensor #1 Voltage High
P0121 TP Sensor Voltage Does Not Agree with MAP
Rest the pcm by disconnecting the battery overnight, Disconnecting the battery and turn the headlights on or touch the terminals together. Then take it for a test ride and see if any codes come up. What brand parts did you put in? It DOES make a difference.

I disconnected the battery for like 20 minutes, does it have to be overnight? I just put a Duralast in there but the manufacturer is walker. It’s Chinese if that’s what you’re asking.

Duralast sucks. They are bottom of the barrel quality-wise, and tend to introduce more problems than they solve..... If you can, get a genuine Mopar sensor.....
