Default Reman 47RE ?

My '01 2500 V-10 4x4 47RE is slowly giving up the ghost. I need a new tranny and am trying to locate a reputable remanufacturer for a 47RE.

Any suggestions appreciated.

Thanks.

Any of your local shops have a reasonable reputation? Having it done locally becomes a godsend if there are issues.....

None. Anchorage, Alaska is a terrible place for tranny's.

I would say it's terrible most of the year. A few trans shops come up on google. Reputable?

Depending on how much you want to spend, if you want a transmission to swap out the one you have, you might want to consider a used transmission - if so, check car-part.com for salvage yards in your general area that may have one available. If you want to spend for a new transmission fully beefed up, you can opt for a MegaViper from these folks - https://transmissioncenter.net/shop/...-viper-series/

Certain it's toast? You don't describe what is wrong. Number of things that can be checked/corrected potentially w/out full rebuild if your issues are just shifting or erratic behavior. Servos/ pistons, governor, valve body, etc. Rigging a pressure gauge, following a diagnostic tree will point you in the right direction.
I rebuilt my 47RH last Christmas w/Sonnax parts. They used to have a pressure testing chart online.
If you are mechanical, detail oriented, the hardest part is pressing the OD clutch pack. If you are sure you need a rebuild shipped in, then one of the Cummins forums would be the place to research. 488 shares a trans with the Cummins, they build those things all the time. Plenty of decent WestCoast shops I'm sure. Nobody knows much about those transmissions on this forum.
