Default 1997 Transmission into a 2001 ram 1500

I was wondering if I could swap the valve body from the 01 into the 97 transmission or should I just swap the electronics? Also what should I replace or make sure is new before install bc 97 trans was a used unit. The 01 trans makes grind noise when going past 65 mph, anytime uphill, and reverse I also have to let up on gas to get it to shift from like 2nd to 3rd gear. Just don’t want to swap electrical if that’s one of the problems of my current transmission.

Electronics are not compatible between those years, so, you have to change 'em anyway. I would be tempted to just pull the retainer for the governor stuff out of the original trans, install new pressure sensor/solenoid of the correct year for what its going in, and call it a day.
