I have a 1997 ram 1500 5.2 just put in a new motor but cant get it started. sounds like the timing is off. the motor was on tdc and the all makings on the distributor are in the right place. thinking that i may have put the bottom gear in the wrong place can any one halp me. please

 

first off, did you check the basics... do you have spark & fuel? have you verified the crank sensor? cam sensor?

check for spark, yank the plugs and smell them. do they smell like gas? What does the manual say for the distributor install?
